Conservation50, Theatre, Pizza Toppings & Local News

On this week’s podcast, Danny talks to Robert Pankhurst from Conservation 50. This year St Albans celebrates 50 years of being one of the first local authorities to designate a Conservation Area. Conservation 50 is a collaboration between St Albans Civic Society, Abbey Precincts Residents Association and Aboyne Residents Association. Their headline event is a conference on 6th July from 2pm at Dagnall Street Baptist Church.  More information can be found at

David Widdowson, chair of Ovo Theatre Company, is our theatre correspondent and joins us to tell us all about what’s happening at the Abbey Theatre, Maltings Arts Theatre, Roman Theatre Festival and elsewhere in our area.

Podcast producer Sam Rolfe and local stalwart Ian Rogers also appear with another “Hot Topic” – a light-hearted look at a weird & wonderful news story from somewhere around the world.

Starting off each edition of the podcast is a local news round-up with The Herts Advertiser’s ace reporter Franki Berry.  She and Danny take a look at some of the big stories from our area.
