Now we feature a special bit of local history. In Smallford, St.Albans, there is, or rather was, a railway station, which in 1999 was given a Grade 2 listing. Created in the middle of the 1860’s it was to run from Hatfield to Smallford and lastly to St.Albans. At least the original plan was to run a major east–west line across the country, but it never got that far. Originally, it took passengers, then just freight, including the weekly magazine “the War Cry” from the Salvation Army printers.
