Rail Freight, Refugees, and Roughing It at Everest’s Base Camp

This week’s edition of the podcast saw “Media Mogul Matt” (he didn’t like “Middle-Spread Matt”) rejoin Byline Laura for more local news. We were also joined by Marian and Liz from StAR and Lucy, a local resident who has just returned from Everest’s Base Camp.

StAR (St Albans For Refugees) started over four years ago, offering help and support where needed. To find out more, check out their website www.stalbansforrefugees.org

Lucy Hurley trekked to the Everest Base Camp in memory of Glen, a local resident she befriended. Glen passed away in February this year, aged 25. He suffered from a degenerative neurological condition called Friedreich’s Ataxia and Lucy took on this monumental challenge in aid of Ataxia UK. If you would like to help Lucy reach her fundraising target, you can donate here https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/lucyhurley
