Just Elspeth (Alban the Saint)

Do you remember the wonderful puppets and procession that attract such attention each June here in St Albans? They are all to celebrate the man called Alban who gave his life for a priest who was condemned to death just for being a Christian here in our city which was then named Verulamium. Of course we need to remember that Britain was a pagan country under the control of Rome. In this podcast I have tried to get together all the facts and the fanciful legends about this occurrence, and also remember the community opera about Alban, with orchestra, and soloist under the baton of David Ireson performing actually in the Abbey. I personally would love to see that again!
